Manual Therapy

For muscle tightness, stiffness and restricted movement that becomes noticeable during sport, training or everyday activity — for example when turning the neck, raising an arm, bending, rotating the body, squatting, doing lunges, driving for long periods or waking with a stiff or painful back. It may also be suitable when muscles feel overloaded, tender to pressure or repeatedly tighten after exercise.

Manual Therapy combines several hands-on techniques selected according to the patient’s movement restriction and clinical findings.

Treatment may include joint mobilization, where the clinician uses controlled movements, traction, rotation, flexion or extension to improve joint or spinal mobility.

When appropriate and when there are no contraindications, joint manipulation may also be used. This technique can sometimes produce an audible click or “crack” caused by joint cavitation. The sound itself is not the goal of treatment.

The session may also include soft-tissue techniques, where muscles and surrounding fascia are worked manually along the length of the affected area. Assisted stretching, controlled resistance and guided movement may be added when needed.

The intensity is adjusted throughout the session according to tissue response and patient comfort. Pressure or stretching may occasionally feel strong, but sharp pain is not expected and the technique is modified if discomfort increases.

Manual Therapy is performed primarily by hand and does not involve injections or device-based treatment.
